I hope you’re all enjoying a little bit of sunshine today, wherever you are! Here in Beautiful British Columbia it’s still too cold, I can’t wait for SPRING to finally arrive!! At the moment I still want to cuddle up on the couch with a blankie and a warm cuppa tea! LOL!
So it's my second week as April's Guest Designer over at the StampShoppe! How time flies! The theme for this week’s Blog Challenge is: A Shaped Card! Any shape will do, except for rectangle and square. I thought it would be fun to try a flower shaped card this time...
Here’s my card for this week:
It’s a fairly simple card this time (no stitching! Ack!) but I like how it turned out. I used my Cricut Expression and the Forever Young cartridge to cut the flower shapes for the card (6 1/2, 6 and 5 1/2"). I glued two blue flowers of the same size together on the top, to create an actual card. Here’s a side view to give you an idea:
And a detailed view to show the glitter on this cute Tilda!
The stamp Tilda as a Butterfly is from Magnolia’s Chasing Butterflies 2009 collection, available at the StampShoppe this month with 15% off. In fact the entire collection of stamps from Chasing Butterflies and Lazy Summer Days is on sale for 15% off! Just use the coupon code: spring. (Canadian orders only.)
I love this cute Tilda stamp, it’s very versatile! Even if you’re not especially fond of butterflies, you could stamp the image and easily cut off the wings and hairband! That way you’ll have a Tilda-giving-a-hug kind of image ;0) !
I didn't like cutting around her little antennae, so instead I cut them off entirely and replaced them with some flower stamens from my stash!
Here's another picture with the Copics I used for coloring:
Materials used:
Paper for stamping: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White #80
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, colored in with Copics (see picture above)
Stamps: Tilda as a Butterfly from Magnolia's Chasing Butterflies 2009 collection, sentiment is from SU! ("Hugs and kisses") and Close To My Heart ("Birthday"), and I used Close To My Heart's "Nature's Vein" set for the leaves
Cardstock: Core'dinations
Patterned paper: Chatterbox (Dorm Campus - flower and Villa Swirls - orange dot)
Flowers: Prima
Pearls: Recollections from Michaels
Glitter: Stampendous!
Tools: Cricut Expression and Forever Young cartridge (flower shape), Stampin' Up! oval punches
For the rest: black flower stamens from old stash
Well, that's it for today! I think I WILL make that cuppa tea now and start reading my new James Patterson novel! Should be good! :0)
Have a wonderful day!
Hugz,
Irma

Oh Irma, this card is just stunning! The colors pop right out and grab you. I love the idea of taking a flower and making it into a card. I also like how you put little pearls on the petals, just like little dewdrops. Lovely.
